Gordal Olives (Meaning “The Fat One” in Spanish) are famous for their impressive size and fleshy texture. Unlike smaller olives, Gordals are plump and juicy with a low oil content, making them the perfect snack for tapas. We at Victus Emporium offer them in two popular varieties, Pitted Gordal Olives and Gordal Olives Stuffed With Red Pepper.
Toreras (Often called Banderillas) are classic Spanish tapas on a stick. These are pickled skewers typically featuring a combination of a gherkin, an onion, a chili and a pepper. They are named after the barbed darts used in bullfighting. We at Victus Emporium offer both Picantes (Spicy) and No Picantes (Mild) versions to suit your heat preference.
The Cornichons we offer are the French style miniature gherkins. They are harvested before they reach full maturity to ensure a distinctively tart, crunchy and snappy texture. They are the traditional accompaniment to pâté, cured meats and raclette, providing a sharp acidity that cuts through rich, fatty foods.
The term Nonpareille refers to the smallest and most prized size of caper (Typically under 7mm). Because they are smaller, they have a more delicate texture and a more concentrated, floral tart flavour than larger capers. They are ideal for garnishing smoked salmon, adding to tartare sauce or including in pasta dishes.
Once the seal is broken, all items in our Pickles & Olives category should be kept refrigerated. To maintain their crunch and flavour, ensure that the vegetables remain fully submerged in their original brine or vinegar. When stored this way, they typically remain at peak quality for several weeks.
