FAQ's
Cantabrian Anchovies are widely considered the best in the world. They are caught in the cold waters of the Bay of Biscay during the spring season, which ensures a higher fat content and a meatier texture. Unlike mass produced anchovies that can be overly salty and mushy, these are hand prepared and aged for several months to develop a complex, umami rich flavour and a firm, silky consistency.
These Petites (Small) sardines are prized for their delicate texture and are preserved in high quality Organic Olive Oil or flavoured with ingredients like Lemon or Guindilla Pepper. For a traditional tapas experience, serve them simply on toasted sourdough or Crystal Bread from our Deli Cupboard. They are also excellent when added to a fresh salad or used as a gourmet pizza topping.
The Anchovy Paste we stock here at Victus Emporium is a secret weapon for any home cook. Because it is highly concentrated, you only need a small amount to add depth and savoriness to sauces, dressings and stews. It is a key ingredient in authentic Caesar salad dressing and is fantastic when melted into butter with garlic to create a quick pasta sauce or a savory rub for roasted lamb.
Yes. The Aneto Natural Fish Broth is a 100% natural, ready to use liquid stock. It is made by simmering fresh fish and vegetables for hours, exactly as you would at home. It contains no concentrates, powders or artificial flavourings and is the perfect base for making a quick Seafood Risotto, a traditional Spanish Paella or a rich Bouillabaisse.
While tinned seafood has a very long shelf life when sealed, once opened, it should be treated like fresh fish. Transfer any remaining contents and the oil/brine into a non metallic airtight container and keep it refrigerated. For the best flavour, consume the remaining fish within 2 days of opening.
